Photos That Didn’t Make the Christmas Card

Every year around Christmas time, when I’m getting ready to send out a stack of Christmas cards, I always contemplate doing the Christmas photo. I feel like it’s something that people start doing once they have children, right around the same time they start including a ridiculously long letter detailing all of their children’s accomplishments that year. Justin and I know a couple about our age who sent out their Christmas photo/card, and it had a sonogram picture of their unborn child on it! (That’s getting a head start on things!)

But really, does the Christmas card photo need to be so epic? Something formal, done in an Olan Mills studio? Why can’t it just be something fun…something that really captures who we are in the day to day?

So I’m thinking that next year, children or no children, we will be sending out a Christmas photo with our card. And instead of something cutesy or professional, it will be something epically ridiculous. Something that people will be talking about for the rest of the new year. “Have you seen the DeAngelis’ Christmas card?” “No! I didn’t get one! Man, I have GOT to get on that list!”

The following pictures didn’t make it onto this year’s Christmas card, but they are the top contenders for next year’s send-outs:

Okay, okay. I’m not sure that any of those photos would really make the Christmas card. But here are a few that might! Just because I’m sentimental…a yearbook of Christmas photos:

  1. You should totally start doing Christmas photo cards!! I have friends who just do photo montages of themselves and their pets from throughout the year. That being said, I also have one friend who JUST puts a picture of their baby on the card and with a generic saying and the last name… Either way, I think that once you’re married it constitutes the right for a photo/update card πŸ™‚ Mostly because if you’re single and send just photos of yourself it would be pretty strange.

    • Haha, thanks Tammy! Maybe I will start sending photos next time. But I’ll need to make sure that it’s a photo no one has seen. I got way too many photo cards with pictures that I had already seen on Facebook. And I’ll also need to make sure that the photo is completely ridiculous, of course. πŸ˜‰

  2. Haha! Your photos are hilarious! Especially the “we REALLY love our pets” one! πŸ˜‰

  3. Nice pictures! You look more like your mother everyday and I never noticed it before. Amazing.!
