Christmas Traveling

Why does it always feel like I need a vacation after Christmas vacation?

This year, we traveled from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Knoxville, Tennessee to visit my parents, and we had our cat in tow because we planned on staying a full seven days. We also took two little side-trips: a day trip to Asheville, North Carolina to visit a few friends and an overnight trip to Nashville, Tennessee to be tourists in Music City. That’s a total of about 1,574 miles and 24 hours spent inside of the car, in case you were wondering. No wonder I’m tuckered out!

But it was worth it. The Fonz was excited to have a Christmas with the family (as he’s usually just left behind on his own while we venture out of town for a few days), and he had the chance to catch up on some much-needed snuggle time with his “grandma” (A.K.A. my mom).

Also, visiting Asheville and Nashville was great! We packed in meetings with three separate groups of friends while we there (lunch, coffee break, and dinner), though I failed to remember to take pictures. Nashville is a place that we’ve always wanted to visit, but we’ve just never had the chance or the time. My husband thinks he’d like to move there someday, though I feel like I might not be country enough to live inside the city limits. I don’t own a pair of cowboy boots and I don’t know the lyrics to many country songs…

I’d like to to a post or two on some of the interesting places that we went in Nashville, but for now I’ll leave you with a review:

I wouldn't be a true fan of the show Nashville if I didn't at least TRY to catch a show at the Bluebird Cafe. As it turns out, reservations must be made WAY in advance to get it, but I'm glad I at least had a glimpse at it from the outside!

Every year, no matter where we go, we always seem to run into the Christmas dragon. He seems to be a feature in every major outdoor light display.
